Well this week surely felt like nothing short of an eternity. I feel
like the end of last transfer felt this way too. Maybe the anxiety is
rising because being transferred is an actuality this time. Overall it
was a nice week though. Monday was an all day P-day which in the
missionary world is nothing short of a miracle. I love Elder Barr's
sister. What do missionaries do with free time you may ask? Well you can
probably take the path of safety and guess sleep which is correct for
the most part, but we aren't boxes there are more than four sides to us.
We took the chance to travel across Brussels (by across i mean to the
other area which we actually live in so it wasn't much of a trip at all)
and play UNO with our fellow missionaries. UNO is a simple game as
everyone knows, but it is unlike any other when you are missionaries. We
played for hours on Monday, three hours to be exact. Never has making
another person draw four been more fun than in the heat of the moment as
a missionary. Christlike attributes can be found throughout the game of
UNO. You give to people by allowing them to take more cards. That's one
that I noticed the very most.
Oh goodness that was a great night. It ended all too soon, but there
was hope on the horizon. We had a day of rest Tuesday and my head hit
the pillow with dreams that I maybe could play UNO once again with my
beloved missionaries. The day of rest began with some hardcore
basketball at the church. Now you may think hardcore is just a filler
word I used to spice up this blog entry a little, but honestly it is
quite the contrary. By hardcore I mean hardcore. I am still trying to
recover from the soreness i accumulated while playing endless rounds of
lightening and endless three on three games. I would like to have
everyone know that i won 8 rounds of lightening in a row. So if anyone
wants to relay my stats to Stew I'm sure the Aggies would like to pick
up a nice 5'9 point guard. Just a thought. Then it came! The zone
leaders invited us to play UNO with them! YAY! It was another intense
round. Tensions were high as usual, but we all came out loving in the
end because that's what Christ would do. Another Christlike attribute
forgiveness, you must forgive someone if they are obligated to skip you
or reverse you so you don't get a turn.
Other than that the week was pretty normal. We found some new good
people, but I won't mention them in the blog till things get a little
more serious. I must say though that my favorite part about the mission
is being able to give everyday of my life. I just give and give to
people and honestly I don't see really anything in return, but it is
such a good feeling to give to people I love everyday. That's one things
I've taken from it. What's money really? Money spent on others is money
spent the right way so this week I challenge all of you to give a
little part of you to someone. There is a quote from ralph waldo
emmerson that says: The only gift is a portion of thyself. I know this
is a little late because Christmas was a few weeks ago, but why should
we limit ourselves to Christmas? Always give! That's my little spiritual
message this week.
